The purpose of this site is to provide a training tool for the Broadcast Technologists at the television station where I work. This tutorial and the information provided will hopefully allow the Techs to become familiar with the signal flow and the standard operating parameters of the associated equipment within the on-air signal path. This will expand the knowledge base of the technical staff and result in less off-air time due to the ability to quickly isolate a problem to a particular system and determine the remedial adjustments needed to correct the problem.
A secondary purpose for this site is to provide information to technical and non-technical individuals that may be interested in the systems and technology required to operate a digital television station.
I welcome all questions, comments and suggestions, whether they are related to the teaching methods or the technology. If you notice any technical operational errors, please let me know so we can all benefit from the discussion.

- I am the Engineering Manager for a TV station located on the Campus of a University. Television is changing rapidly and keeping the technicians and operators trained is an important part of the on-going digital revolution in broadcast television. We also have students that fill positions at the station. This requires constant training and retraining as students graduate and they are replaced by new students. So, I have become interested in the idea of using technology to teach technology. This should help make the training process quicker, easier and more consistent. I hope this site will be become a part of this training goal.
